WAR.

Let it be known that I am invariably AGAINST any type of war. But..... 64 years ago the world let a little man with a bad haircut, get appeased and placated. That mistake cost MILLIONS of lives. Make no mistake as sad as it may sound the "leader" of the Iraqi government is no different. Given the ability he would love to see the USA and any other "western" nation gone. All you have to do is a little research on this man.

This strike against a dictator, (hiding behind the word president is so sad) is justified. He has, and if given the chance to continue, would eventually cause the nations of the world many problems.

THIS IS TRUE.

Listening to the BBC World news today, a young woman from Iraq, was debating the justification of this conflict. After a few moments the debate became quite heated, the gentleman with whom she was discussing this with' did not believe it was right for another power to oust the Iraqi ruler. The woman argued that the people did not have the power to overthrow Saddam, he was so ruthless. The man insisted that it was the right of the Iraqi people to choose their form of rule. To her dismay he would not budge on this view.

After a few more moments, these are the words which came from her mouth, they will haunt me for the rest of my life.

"How, how can you say that, you......you don't know what I've seen. I cannot stand here and debate this with a man who would take this stand"

The woman left the studio sobbing, taking with her the knowledge of what it means to live under a dictatorship.

The passing of Charlie Huber PDF Print E-mail

charliebrettwedding.jpgCharles R Huber Born-February 7, 1943

Died January 7, 2001, but lives on in his friends memories.....

 The main man and me.

What can I say about Charlie Huber? Truth be told, the first time I met the guy I thought he was one mean s.o.b., barking out orders to a bunch of guys at a Freestyle contest he was running in 1985.  Luckily for me I was fortunate enough to walk up to the guy and start a conversation about bringing some ramps to his next contest.  Well, let me tell ya, my first impression of this man was wayyyyyy off base.  Charlie was the kind of guy who let you know what was up and how he felt about anything.  Talk to "Chuck" for 5 minutes and you were either his friend or you knew what this guy was all about.  Which I guess leads me to my next paragraph......what was my impression of Charlie.  To describe Charlie Huber, the words, outspoken, helpful, and friendly first come to mind.  Not that you could agree with everything that the man said, but it didn't matter because you still had a great time just arguing with him.  ( My wife said that when Chuck would get on a roll about some subject, it would wear her out!) He was always the first guy in to help, and never said something couldn't be done.  I knew Charlie for a little over 15 years. Remaining friends all that time. Sometimes we'd go a few weeks or a month without talking, (life has a tendency to make people drift apart as they get older) but it was always a pleasure to hear his voice on the phone or bust his chops about something.  Something that needs to be said about Chuck is his involvement in the early days of Freestyle BMX. Back in 1985, the "sport" everyone now sees on ESPN2 and the little toy bikes you see in the toys aisles of Wal-Mart and Toys R Us, was just starting out.  There where no major corporations backing contests, and to try to get insurance to run one was near impossible.  Well Charlie, under the influence of another long standing friend of his named Joe, started up the AFA contests in Pennsylvania.  Back then the sport was just starting to take off and people would come from all over the northeast to go to Charlie's Bike Shop and ride in his contests.  I never saw a guy who didn't ride, so devoted to Freestyle, helping guys out with parts, setting up contests, putting together shows for the local guys. (most all of this expense rolled out of the big mans pocket)  This guy went all out. But the came time in late 1988 to 1989 that Freestyle started to fade out. The riders were getting older and at that time the new crop of guys just really hadn't started to come into view. Well that didn't stop Chuck, he kept promoting and putting all the effort he could into it until his doctor said, no more Charlie if you want to keep on living.  So in the early 90's Charlie sort of faded from the Freestyle scene, (I took over for awhile running stuff in NJ, with some help from Charlie) Did he disappear completely? No way "mack"  Charlie went out and got a huge van and opened up a BMX bike shop that he would haul to the races along with his team.  That's something that needs to be said about this man.  Wherever there was a kid who needed a hand or a little direction, Chuck was there, helping him out.  Charlie was a behind the scenes influence in a lot of lives. (His wake will pay testimony to that, at that day on January 9, 2001, I saw  so many bike riders from 15 to 35 that this guy helped out that I could not believe it.)  The last few years that I knew him though, he did back down from all the traveling and pushing it to the limit going all over the country to the races.  I'm pretty sure he knew that he was really whittling down on the time he had left and he wanted to be around his son and just enjoy his family a little more.  Though just a few months before he passed away we were making plans for him to be able to run a custom wheel building business at the BMX races.  I had more good times and learned more life lessons from this guy than any other person I have met as a friend.Though we all are more saddened by his passing than he could ever had imagined (I'm gonna miss that wacko calling my house and just saying "Who's this?" instead of the customary hello.) I think he should be pretty happy someplace, knowing that in his short 57 years on this planet he touched so many lives in such a positive way that he will be remembered for a long, long time.  We miss you "Chuck, Mack, Bubbie" (hah, I found your secret!)And every time I see somebody needing a hand or looking down and out, I'll think of Charlie and not be so afraid to lend a hand.(Hey..........uh, Chuck. Make sure when you're up there that when you start building the ramps, you build the first ones perfect this time!)Charlie Huber"Friend""Father""Husband"With us all forever............................Hey! We love ya man!

May 24, 1924 to December 19, 2003 What can I say about my father? Without a doubt he was a difficult man to get to truly know. Although he never had a problem telling you what was on his mind, he did have difficulty expressing his deeper feelings. He could be at times obnoxious, irritating, but then roll over to being goofy and even funny. Born and raised in Plainfield, NJ, he lived in that area his whole life. Although that doesn't sound like much, his contributions to the area were many. Heading out to war in 1943 he strode across the beaches at Normandy in the 5th wave of troops. Shortly after returning from the war he married my mom, Patricia, and began the long hard job of living his life. His entire life he was a mason, first working for a few contractors, then branching out on his own with Middaugh Mason Contractors.

With the advent of computer generated imagery, the area of graphic arts has changed considerably. It is now possible to create virtually anything from the unreal made real, to the real made unreal.

Using programs like Poser, Bryce, Carrara, Photoshop and others, the virtual universe is the limit. I hope you enjoy my forays into the 3D generated arts. More pieces will be added as the months go by.

For some of my early designs in Poser click here.
