As a now “old guy” who still occasionally plays on the BMX, one of the dudes I keep track of who currently rides is @burnsbonedeth I’m sure it has nothing to do with leather jackets, tight pants and an affinity for motorhead…. LOL. 31 years ago, the general bikes team in its last incarnation. Flatland legends Sean Leslie and Jay Jones flank me on my left and right. And I will go down with my AC DC cap damn you all!!! This was a few months before we would get stuck in Indiana and meet future legend @kipbmx of @spacebrotherspodcast BMX is the most niche of lifestyles. Damn I miss this guy. Charlie Huber of PAAFA was instrumental in making the PA NJ scene happen in the 80’s. So many great riders filtered through his comps and he hosted every team out there every summer. Just a great guy. Here he gets coverage with his yearly PA comp in Grundy’s ice rink. You can see Roger Sullivan blasting a fakey on the HVTT quarter and future flatland world champion going OTB with a handstand. From the first real show I ever did at Clifton Speed Center. Summer 1984. We had our 6’ stick frame quarter and Dan’s metal wedge and went at it. The show was nuts and the crowd was insanely big. Rumor has it that Ralph Sinisi of @animalbikes was in the crowd that day… it was fantastic of Fran from Clifton to have us do that show AND pay us. Just an awesome woman! Man this is like over 25 years ago!! Anyway, during the dead age of BMX freestyle, I still had my old HVTT quarter and did drag it around on occasion. This time to the first Dunellen Street Fair in my town. We were a hit and I got in a few local papers. Riding of course a @harobmx master.
