Around 1990ish. Levittown, PA trails. The black bashguard @harobmx master in full effect. Oddly I could jump better after I quit BMX racing lol. Here I am@in the middle of my go to jumping trick a leary. It’s a leary, not a lookback or a turndown, a leary. The birth of mid school in eastern PA. #bmx #pabmx #oldschoolbmxfreestyle #oldschoolbmx Check it out...
In the summer of 1984 this was the height of radicalness on a BMX bike. Front brakes, still a racer plate on there and an extended no footed front brake endo. #Rad …for the early 80’s I was still an @redlinebicycles nut with Stu and RL being on there. On my noggin an OP hat…remember them?! This was freestyle before freestylin magazine. #bmx #njbmx #njbmxfreestyle #oldschoolbmxfreestyle #oldschoolbmx Check it out...

Flag bearer 1984. You can see how stoked I was on this by my hunched shoulders. This was at the infamous Braddock BMX track in North Bergen, NJ. I ran 58 that year got #1 in cruiser for my district then quit to freestyle LOL. I helped out at Braddock as well and was the track announcer for a couple of years. Which led to announcing at my own freestyle shows. As a young lad I was pretty shy but stick a mic near me and ask me to talk about BMX. On it. The golden age of BMX racing in NJ. #bmx #njbmx #oldschoolbmx Check it out...
For a short shining period in my racing career I was factory support redline. As shown by this shot taken in the infamous Jersey City Armory, I liked jumping more than racing and the following year I would be full on freestyle. JC Armory is also the site of the first freestyle demo we ever did in the winter of 1984. Anyway a toast to the classic one footed tabletop and all the people who made indoor racing in NJ in the 80’s a reality! #bmx #njbmx #oldschoolbmx #redlinebmx Check it out...
Last issue of a wizard pub and last place in the…average joe class…me. Things to note: this was at the infamous hoffman estates ramp park in Chicago. @billnitschke and @bmxtrickstars were killing it. jeff Crawn had just turned pro. And Colin Winkleman (RIP) shredded my class. It’s really odd to be frozen in time in that last issue of Go from that era. It was truly the changing of the guard back then. A new world awaited BMX freestyle and the Osborns would have nothing to do with it. The following fall McDonald would start Ride BMX magazine and the sport would change again. BMX is life. #bmx #njbmx #midschoolbmx #oldschoolbmxfreestyle #oldschoolbmx Check it out...
Why they changed the name to Go will always be way beyond me. Dumbest decision ever. Anyway…the last issue of a Wizard publication and 14 years from when I picked up my first wizard pub, I was finally able to get recognition for stuff that was being done in NJ. My ramp park, the Ramp-Ateria was shown in the Section 8 part of the mag. It was really mind blowing to see something I had created in what was the premiere mag for riders at that time. Sadly this was their last issue and a massive era for BMX came to a close with wiz pubs demise. Not long after the ramp park would close as well. There’s other news from this issue as well but that is a post for another day.. for now a tearful farewell to a great magazine with a super stupid name. Salute. #bmx #njbmx #bmxmagazine #gotheridersmanual #njbmxfreestyle #bmxfreestyle #oldschoolbmxfreestyle #oldschoolbmx Check it out...

By about 1991 most local contest were put on by local riders. There was a killer crew in south jersey who did a lot for freestyle BMX in NJ and this shot of an 86 trick in 1991 was taken at one of those comps. If I could just remember theirs names… ah the old days… or the beginning of mid school as some would say. #bmx #njbmx #bmxfreestyle #njbmxfreestyle @oldschoolbmxtv @oldschoolbmxfreestyle I loved the paint scheme on this @harobmx freestyler and yes I rode flat and street at that point. Not well…LOL but I did. Check it out...
Local headlines. By the time 1992 rolled around myself and Eric Fleming were hitting the 2b Soul Kitchen NBL series. We actually had one at the Ramp-Ateria back then and Eric and I did pretty good in our respective classes. Leigh Ramsdell, who’s wheels you see, moved past Kevin Robinson to win “vert”. Which was the old HVTT 1/4 pipe, LOL! The dead era of BMX in NJ. #bmx #njbmx #njbmxfreestyle #midschoolbmx #oldschoolbmxfreestyle @oldschoolbmxtv @oldschoolbmxfreestyle Check it out...
The summer of 1984. Stick frame quarter and an RL Proline race bike. The end of co-sponsorship by Redline and the beginning of work and freestyle BMX. Lookbacks below coping were hard…I swear! LOL!! #bmx #njbmx #redlinebmx #bmxfreestyle #freestylebmx Check it out...
