Posted this before but not zoomed in. I always was stoked on the fact that I wasn’t some guy looking for sponsorship alone but was managing my own team. Roger Sullivan was not on HVTT contrary to what this says but Jeff Mayer was. In fact Jeff auditioned to replace Roger on our ramp in the General Bikes parking lot in front of legendary NJ BMX promoter Harry Myers. Jeff went in tour, then recommended me to run the team and there I was, LOL. Anyway, freestylin’ magazine mentions HVTT. Everyone knows of rutgers NJ because of the black rail…many, many years before the black rail my friends and I were busting street moves there. Here yours truly, flannel in full effect, busts an acid drop off a ledge near the old junk food trucks. Rutgers sessions were always a blast. In the early 90’s BMX was dead. This is myself and Eric Fleming doing some warm up doubles at a show in Buena Vista, NJ where we got heavily stiffed by not putting in who was paying for accommodations at the show. NJ’s first portable box jump. Big and weird but all us, LOL. I actually sorta dug this bike. It was full chromoly and the woman who ran the huffy team sent it to me for nothing! So I ran almost a whole season on a huffy bike. I believe it was Phyliss McCollough who ran that team. Behind is me my Mom, Patricia Middaugh who gave me my nose, hair, emotional support and taught me how to be a decent human being. The era is about 1982-83. I loved this @harobmx bashguard master alas it was stolen from my garage… anyway, the inspiration to call the book the average BMXer was this, in ‘92 I was the #1 average joe in flat and street in the short lived NBL freestyle series.
