So nowadays I see people all over wearing slip on checkerboard @vans . But it wasn’t always that way. Back in the 80’s Vans wearers were few and far between and to wear them to school or business was just not done. Well yours truly was a trend setter 36 years ago. This is from a scholastic poster book that used my image without permission…ah the follies of youth. Vans the choice of free thinkers since my year of birth, 1966. #bmx #njbmx #vansoldskool #vansslipon @vans @vansbmx66
This is the site of the first freestyle show I ever did. The Jersey City Armory in Jersey City, NJ. The winter months saw races here on an almost weekly basis and the east coast’s best racers competed on this wooden track with 3 obstacles. It was crazy and at one point we even had Scot Breithaupt’s old fiberglass berm in there. NJ BMX history. These races were run by James Vincent of JV Bicycles and sanctioned by the ABA which is now USABMX. It was a wild time in the early 80’s. #bmx #njbmx #oldschoolbmxfreestyle #oldschoolbmx #usabmx #jerseycity
